This project is called “ALOS World 3D” (AW3D), and its dataset consists of the global DSM dataset with 0.15 arcsec. Satellite Map of USA – United States of America AW3D provides mainly two products. The other is the world’s highest resolution 3D map of 30cm resolution using DigitalGlobe’s satellite imageries. The needs for geographic spatial information are increasing all over the world to organize basic map information and prepare for disasters such as tsunamis and floods, etc. Originated from the DEM dataset with 5m resolution, AW3D is regarded as the most precise global DEM datasets up to now, so it may exerts more effect in topographic analysis and geographic research. The Advanced Land Observing Satellite “DAICHI” (ALOS) satellite images were compiled to create DEM. The Prime Minister`s Award is awarded to cases recognized as being extremely distinguished achievements that have made significant contributions to furthering space development and utilization. The selection is made by a judging panel in November, based on six criteria – technological and developmental potential, price effectiveness, the degree of contribution to the company`s achievements, growth potential, originality, and the impacts on industries and society – to handpick about 40 items out of some 20,000 new products and services.JAXA won “Prizes for Science and Technology” of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan in 2017 for its achievement on encouraging utilization of geospatial information foundation, recognized by the market growth of AW3D and wide-range utilization of it.This project is an important milestone in Private-Public-Projects Collaboration in Aerospace in Japan.
As far as I know, both Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator don’t recognize DEM files. An important feature of these DEMs is their unprece-dented horizontal resolution of 30-m and almost global coverage. Any of these software programs in the link below will be able to open a TIF. I found the information here very useful – the JAXA’s global DSM was just what I needed. DEM/DTM is a digital model or 3D representation of a terrain's surface. And when I change it to 32 bit and then back to 8 bit I still have complete white areas, what would disiturb a 3d elevation mesh.Hi, I have been trying to download ASTER and SRTM data from USGS’ EarthExplorer but no luck. • (-) less suited for analysis of surface slope, aspect and network analysis.
