NDO – Hanoi Department of Education and Training and Education New Zealand signed a collaboration agreement at a ceremony held in Hanoi on October 29.The event was attended by Minister of Finance of New Zealand Grant Robertson, New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam Wendy Matthews, and Chairman of Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.Under the agreement, the two sides will work together to train talents and students from Hanoi through scholarships granted by New Zealand as well as contests.In addition, the Education New Zealand and Hanoi Department of Education and Training will cooperate in improving the skills and professional competence of teachers and officials from Vietnam’s capital city as well as further strengthen collaboration and exchange among schools and universities from the two sides.For his part, the Ministry of Finance of New Zealand Grant Robertson gave sincere thanks to Hanoi’s leaders for their reception, while expressing his impression at the development of Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular.He also noted that issues related to curriculum reform and enhancement of educational management capacity are the strengths and concerns of New Zealand.The Minister hoped that the collaboration agreement would contribute to supporting Hanoi’s training system in a modern manner.Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman Chung said that Hanoi has implemented many reforms in education, including the provision of dual degree programme of both a Vietnamese national high school diploma and a Cambridge International A-level.Appreciating the quality of New Zealand’s education programmes, he expressed his hope that the signing ceremony would open up many opportunities to enhance the cooperation in this field between Hanoi and New Zealand.Notably, the two sides would implement more specific and practical cooperation programmes so that the capital city can learn from the experience in training human resources for educational management, added the Chairman.
