Where Is The Lonely Mountain In Middle-earth,
Actor Roger Sloman is a genius. Leigh takes an observant approach to this character-driven comedy, originally made for BBC-TV. Here’s what we thought…. One of the country's finest TV actors for many years now, he's rarely got the projects that his talents deserve but here he gives many reasons why that is such a sad state of affairs. Keith has every stop, every activity, and every side trip on their vacation mapped out and written on a timetable. Their tent is pitched neatly next to their Morris Minor (though they're in the country, he locks and unlocks the car whenever he needs something from it) with everything in the campsite letter-perfect.Their idyll of a vacation spot is shattered when Ray (O'Donnell) pitches a tent 20 or so yards away and turns up his radio. Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Nuts In May - Play for Today at Amazon.com. Some impact! Keith (Sloman) is one of the most maddeningly anal-retentive people on the planet. The two (a weird hybrid of bikers and glam rockers) buddy up to Ray, further antagonizing Keith; the threesome then go to a local pub, get a load on, come back, and make noise at the campsite. © Letterboxd Limited. Ray doesn't take well to Keith's requests to turn it back down again, and Keith doesn't appreciate it when the sweet but dim Candace Ann takes a liking to Ray. It is the comical story of a nature-loving and rather self-righteous couple's exhausting battle to enjoy what they perceive to be the idyllic camping holiday. They're the ones now ruining the holiday for others, and it's as hilarious to watch as it is painful. For those of you furnished with said service, Nuts In May is available on BBC iPlayer for a few weeks, I think, but you can also catch it on YouTube With: Alison Steadman, Anthony O'Donnell and Roger Sloman.
Holidays in England were quite like this for me when I was a kid, although thankfully we never went camping, opting instead for caravans that were usually infested with some infernal insect or another. I also force friends to watch it. He's a stuffy British pseudo-intellectual who's also a hippie-come-lately, but his pacifist do-gooder veneer falls apart quickly enough; after his ugly confrontation with Finger, Keith runs off crying like a little girl!
Made by It's simultaneously a lovely summing up of English holidays by the coast and the kind of self-righteous arsehole couple you always get on these holidays. Along with his girlfriend Candace Ann (Stedman), he's on holiday in the British countryside; they polish their Doc Martens diligently before going on an afternoon hike.
This will wake Mark C up in particular - this is my first Mike Leigh film. Not really a film, of course, but one of the productions in the old and acclaimed BBC Play For Today series. Read honest and unbiased product reviews from our users. Nuts In May. Wilderness and civilization, sociology, class struggle and authority all perfectly pitched and played. Things go from bad to worse when a couple of rough characters, Finger (Bill) and his girlfriend Honky (Kelley), blow into the campsite on their motorcycle. Information is power. The two are strict vegetarians and have their dinners planned out well in advance. Support the free press, so we can support Austin. Nuts in May is a television film devised and directed by Mike Leigh, filmed in March 1975, and originally broadcast as part of the BBC's Play for Today series on 13 January 1976.
of open sky imagery and… The real centerpiece, though, is the performance of Sloman as Keith, an insufferably irritating character with a deeply contradictory nature. Someone on Twitter mentioned it was on BBC4 tonight and, having completed my betting duties for the evening, I thought I might as well. It's simultaneously a lovely summing up of English holidays by the coast and the kind of self-righteous arsehole couple you always get on these holidays. Nuts In May. He's so believably officious, quibbling about every petty issue going and sneering at the supposedly unhealthy lifestyles of his fellow campsite users, that it's difficult to imagine he could have been more realistic.Ultimately, I think you get the most out of Nuts In May if it's recognisable to you and it certainly was to me.
Talk about hitting the ground running – Nuts In May managed a magnificent debut.
84 min. Mike Leigh at his best. After lecturing their poor captive on the evils of meat, they drag out their banjo and acoustic guitar and play a horrible folk song that they wrote about a trip to the zoo. In typical Mike Leigh fashion, it progresses from slow, bone-dry comedy to an uneasy degree of tension by the movie's end. The film's most unforgettable scene, though, is when the couple invites Ray over to their campsite in an attempt to make friends.
Her wonderfully intoned delivery letting her Keith know what he probably already knows never stops being amusing and leaves you wondering when it is all going to get to him at last. But Sloman is marvellous as well. Now i have a copy oc the DVD I re-watch it on a regular basis. Information is power.
Her drippy personality bends to his every whim and caters to the petty, tyrannical side of his nature.

I switched to Rice Krispies after that.As said couple, Roger Sloman and Alison Steadman are quite wonderful. Rating: 5/5 Review: Brilliant!
