While I have no doubts that the original books were embellished and dramatised (as pretty much all nonfiction books are, no matter how factual they claim to be) things such as we're apparently supposed to believe now that these 8 highly trained men managed to fire off well over 2000 rounds of 5.56mm, 66mm rockets, 40mm grenades etc between them and didn't even slightly wound a single person, I find that in itself rather difficult to believe. I have read both The One That Got Away and Bravo Two Zero,both exciting page turners about a Gulf War operation gone wrong.Both featured an epic body count and both impugned the reputation of one of its members,Vince Phillips.Asher attempts to set the record straight with a trek following the route of the eight unfortunate troopers and interviews with many of the witnesses who were involved.Suggest reading the aforementioned books before this one. Both men became millionaires. The explanations and the alternative views and opinions to the original book by 'McNab' are all very plausible..but no one will will ever know the truth except the guys that were really there..two of which are best selling fiction writers now.Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 28, 2016

I reread this book to get a clear picture having reread Andy version.
THE REAL BRAVO TWO ZERO is now in the top 10 bestseller list and has received a brilliant review in FRONT MAGAZINE: 'Asher reveals fact from fiction and gives the full, no-bullshit account of what actually happened. Along with a Channel 4 camera crew Asher visited Iraq (under Saddam) and clinically pulls McNab's account to pieces. I'm not saying that McNab's Bravo Two Zero is a historical document, far from it, but this book just seemed to have a bitter pettiness to it that left a sour taste in my mouth.
