The Experience.
From trail maintenance to environmental education to the front desk, there are many opportunities to contribute! Visitors to the refuge may observe hundreds of species of plants, trees, birds, insects and mammals. Framed by the Philadelphia skyline, the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum spans 1,200 acres and serves as a refuge for rare plants, resident and migratory birds, and earthbound animals including foxes and deer. Officers also help out occasionally in other management or biological programs on refuges.Federal Wildlife Officers are commissioned law enforcement officers.
