I qualified as a Yachtmaster in 1994 and owned various boats since. One of those moments was when I sailed with a group of young offenders of which one had been arrested the day before the voyage, from the end of day 1 I saw this young person open his eyes to the world to what he could achieve and by the end of the week it was my privilege to offer him an award for his outstanding work and effort during the voyage, more to this was the feedback we received from the young person and his family and how he had chosen to go back to school to improve his life and that of his Mum. No two trips are alike and no two groups are alike. I did this back home in Wales, which is where I heard about Clipper. He erupted with an angry outburst over a card game. Furthermore my job includes maintenance of the boats, this can range from working with engines to fixing toilets! My most memorable moment with tall ships was being up the mast of our old brig during the tall ships races setting sails along with dozens of other tall ships outside of Helsinki, it was as if we were in an armada.
