Each of us has our favorite program, gathering, or seminar. The 2021 AAAS Annual Meeting will convene entirely online, February 8-11, with related pre-released materials available starting in late January. More generally, you will gain an understanding of S&T’s appropriate roles in policymaking, as well as how to see policy issues from a policymaker’s and the public’s perspectives. We commit to being transparent and timely in our communication about the effects of this change. The theme of the 2021 meeting, AAAS’ policies in response to the COVID-19 situation and how it has forced us to change our normal ways of operating have been guided by three overarching goals, in the following order of importance: 1) ensuring the health and safety of program participants, volunteers, and AAAS staff; 2) ensuring the continuity of critical operations; and 3) continuing to fulfill our mission through our programs, products, and activities.
